- Provides advice on project budgeting in the grant or project application stage.
- Provides a copy of our IRS certification as a nonprofit organization.
- Accepts the legal responsibility for grant accomplishments as the “Grant Recipient”.
- Receives the grant contract, reviews the terms, and takes responsibility for pre-start requirements.
- Assures that the “contract” is understood and follows the grant award in a timely fashion.
- Maintains the official project files and official records.
- Assures that grant requirements are met satisfactorily and on time.
- Maintains records of the official contacts for grantors, funders and project managers.
- Reviews and files the required reports and financial information.
- Notifies the sub-recipients or project managers of the legal starting date, the availability of funds and report due dates.
- Receives project or grant funds and maintains financial records.
- Sends funders of nonprofit activities a receipt (to enable the funder to claim a tax credit).
- Does the bookkeeping.
- Prepares and distributes financial statements as needed.
- Provides for an annual audit.
- Incorporates the grant or project into our annual income tax filing (Form 990).
- Pays the project bills upon authorization by the project manager.
- Handles correspondence with federal grant funders and other grantors.
- Advises project managers of opportunities or problems and possible courses of action.
