Idaho – Montana – Wyoming
Ag Energy Efficiency Program
In an effort to expand their energy efficiency to the agricultural sector, Bonneville Power Administration, contracted with High Country Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) in April 2011. This program works with local utilities to offer energy efficiency incentives to landowners to ensure that the Agricultural (Ag) sector implements efficiency measures. Under the current program, 8 utilities, 6 conservation districts and 3 RC&Ds in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming were included, the Bitter Root RC&D being one.
The first year focus has been to work with the utilities to offer assistance in implementing the energy program, provide assistance conducting field energy analysis to evaluate systems and provide marketing in all three states with participating utilities.
Bitter Root RC&D is working with Ravalli and Missoula Electric Cooperatives to implement the program in their areas of service. Help with rebates on irrigation system equipment is available to all Ag classified irrigators as well as commercial greenhouses and golf courses and energy efficiency evaluation of irrigations systems is available free of charge for pump systems. Greg Marose, Field Energy Analyst for the Bitter Root RC&D is coordinating the program with the utilities.
Contact the Bitter Root RC&D at (406) 363-5450 for more information on how to participate in this program.
